She had an awesome day today with her cousins, Guy and Ella. These two little women just adore all of their cousins. They were pumped to see Donovan and Ella today, and the four of them play so well together as usual. Maddie and Donovan were quite exhausted from not napping, but still had quite the eventful day decorating a brownie fruit pizza, giving the Veggie Tales some hair-do's with Maddie's Play Doh barber shop kit, playing outside, and playing "customer/seller" with Maddie's princess cash register and a few pretend items to purchase. They're all too funny.
Maddie and Faith were playing before bedtime tonight, and they were playing with the princesses that Uncle Matt got Maddie for Christmas this past year: Prince Eric, Ariel, Cinderella, and Prince Charming. Maddie asked me to put a pink dress on Ariel, and when I tried to, Ariel's head popped off of her body. Oh man. She seemed numb about it until she decided to go ahead and throw Ariel away in the trash, and that's when it started:
"Ariel... I'm so sorry you died. Momma killed you... Oh, man!!!!!!! I can't believe this. Ariel is DEAD..." And, the crying turned into sobs. She then picked up Prince Eric and took him to her bed while crying and crying and crying. She put him next to her in bed and started sobbing, "Prince Eric doesn't have a princess anymore... Poor Prince Eric. Poor Ariel. I can't believe Ariel is dead. Mommmmmma!!!"
I couldn't help but silently laugh. She was beyond tired, and literally passed out within seconds of her 6:45pm bedtime. Obviously the lack of nap helped send her over the edge in to the deep abyss of grief for her poor lost princess, Ariel. But, it was still too darn cute.
